Week 6: Meeting with the President of México!

This week was definitely one of the most memorable time during my stay in Mexico! The president of Mexico, Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto visited our campus for filming a promotional video. Because UTR is one of the current government’s projects as the first bilingual technological university in the country that is also part of the Sustainable, International, and Bilingual Program (BIS), each year the president makes a visit to check on the progress and promotes the unique university’s educational system as one of the bests in Mexico.
Since early in the morning, everyone was busy preparing the campus for president’s arrival. Around noon, I was on my way to go to my next class when I suddenly ran into the Mr. President down the hallway! We got a few selfies together and had a brief chat over my time in Mexico, the Global Leadership School project, and my country, Canada! I also had the chance to play a short role in part of his promotional video which will be shown on national TV later this year. It was definitely a very fun and unforgettable experience to meet and spend some time with the president of a country where and when you don’t expect such a thing to happen!
