This week I got to do a little tour around the city. Aguascalientes is definitely one the most quiet, safest and cleanest cities of Mexico and offers a lot to see and explore! People are super welcoming and friendly, especially with foreigners. Every time when I asked for direction or a place I was looking for, people helped me immediately. If you are not fluent in Spanish, it’s always a good idea to know the translation for the following words: left, right, straight, and blocks. These will get you closer to your point of interest by making sure you aren't totally screwing up.

Food is cheap, easy to find, and delicious. Mexican food is definitely not just tacos. There are numerous authentic dishes and some of them are specialties of Aguascalientes. Some of the most famous dishes of the city are enchillidas, pozole (a soup-like dish), sopes, and "taquitos dorados doblados" folded tacos filled with potato and topped with a tomato and oregano sauce, served with lettuce, avocado, and cream. The city is filled with a lot of bars and restaurants where you can try national and local food, snacks and drinks. However, having to pay extra for a cold drink is no Bueno! Same with paying for toilet paper at public restrooms, and not getting enough. Plus most places have you throw away toilet paper instead of flush it.

Never say no to a Mexican family party! People are very close to their relatives and friends. Sometimes you can see up to 3 families living and partying together, singing mariachi songs and being proud of their land and culture. If you didn't have a few tequila or mezcal shots and went to a party, you don't really know how fun Mexico is. You should know that they say jokes and make fun of basically everything, but always in a friendly way.

Using public transportation in Aguascalientes can be challenging at first, as the buses usually don’t follow any schedule and they are old. But, oh well, who wants to miss a free roller coaster ride!? :) Taxis on the other hand are a smart option for getting around in Aguascalientes. Most places in the city can be reached for MX$40 or less.

Bus companies that work in between the cities are nice and comfortable. They're extremely clean, the seats lean back so nice and far. They give you a snack and a drink when you get on. Mexico's roads are very nice and beautiful.

Don't get surprised when walking through el centro of Aguascalientes near the main cathedral and running into a bunch of shoeshiners!
Bring an umbrella with you! Rainfall season is from May until November, although rain is very seldom here. When it does rain it's fierce and brief in the late afternoon leaving the evenings cooled off and dry.
One of the other things that is interesting for me is how much people work. I've met a lot of young people who work 50 hour weeks all the time.

Vochos in different colors! <3
